Thanks to all my loyal readers, but it's time to take a break. I won't say forever, but for now.....so long.

Earn Money

No matter what your financial situation, today is the best time to start thinking about what is important to you. If you are unemployed, need to build an emergency fund, save for college or for a vacation, the following ideas can help bring in extra money.

Before you get started, think about the type of work you want to do, how much time can you devote to your money making endeavor(s), and how much money you’d like to make.  Be wary of any opportunity that sounds to good to be true and/or asks for money.

While it is possible to make money online, most legitimate opportunities take time and effort before seeing monetary returns.

  1. Join online survey & product testing sites.  You can make a little extra money every month in your spare time working with online survey groups. Companies who want to know more about consumers will pay for their opinions. You will not get rich from survey sites, but it is a viable way to make a little extra money working from home in your spare time.
  2. Try Freelance article writing.  If you like crafting your words, article writing may be for you. There are numerous article submission sites and sites that will pay you for  your articles.  In addition, many sites will pay you for other types of content such as power point presentations, videos, Podcasts, photos, etc.).  Pay is usually based on views, affiliate relationships, etc.
  3. Become an Affiliate.  One of the easiest ways to get started making money online is affiliate marketing.  An affiliate (or associate or partner) promotes (sells) other people’s products or services for a commission.  You can promote your affiliate opportunities online (Website/Blog/Articles/Videos) and/or offline (friends/family/flyers/business cards).
  4. Learn about incentivized freebie websites.  A growing number of people are taking advantage of Incentivized Freebie Websites (IFWs) to make money online.  You may not know what an IFW is but you’ve probably seen it may times.   An example of an IFW might be “Click here to get a free iPod” .   IFW’s give out free iPods, Playstations, and even laptops in exchange for signing up for advertiser’s offers and/or referring others.
  5. Sign up to participate in focus groups – Focus groups are one of my most favorite ways to make a little extra money. I participate as often as I can because they typically pay well. I found the last focus group I participated in (regarding lotteries) on Craigslist. The group fed us and in under two hours I made $100. Stay Tuned for more information.
  6. Become a Mystery shopper
  7. Start your own website/blog and monetize it with ads
  8. Promote your website/blog on social networking and social bookmarking sites
  9. Have a yard Sale! There is no better way to de-clutter your house and make a little extra cash at the same time. Remember the old adage “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”? If you have ever held a yard sale or even shopped a yard sale, you know this is true.
  10. Sell Your Items (Textbooks/Cd’s/Crafts ) – Items that don’t sell or get top dollar at yard sales can be sold online (EBay, Amazon, Craigslist, Etsy) and/or offline (Pawn or Consignment Shops, Used CD stores, Flea Markets).
  11. Look for Items to Re-Sell – I have many friends that regularly find high end items at yard sales and thrift stores and resell or consign them at a profit. Another friend sells books on Amazon that she finds in Craigslist’s “Free” section – and makes about $100/month.
  12. Turn Your Hobby into a Business Venture - I know people that have turned their love for gift baskets, beading/making jewelry, scrapbooking and photography into money making ventures. You can sell to neighbors, friends, family, online, home parties, etc. Be creative.
  13. Offer Your Services to Others – Everyone is busy these days and many people are looking for someone to help them out. From running errands to scooping dog poop – there are people who don’t or can’t do for themselves. Find them. Help them. Charge them.

Tips

  • Most of the online opportunities pay through PayPal. If you need an account (personal or merchant), sign up here.
  • If you are doing just about anything online, you should have a program such as RoboForm. What Roboform does is automatically fill out forms for you so you don’t have to manually enter your information. If you’re interested, please use this link to download your copy today. Thank you.
  • Do you research on each opportunity before proceeding. If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Never pay to work and don’t give out personal information. Make protecting yourself, your family and your identity, your number one priority.
